Rangers are considering a second attempt to secure Man City rising star James McAtee with the 19-year old coveted by a host of clubs, and while not quite ready for City’s first team, he has excelled in in both the PL2 and the full Premier League.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst is well-known to be seeking a new attacking midfielder for next season, with Ianis Hagi some way off recovery, Joe Aribo likely to leave and Scotty Arfield no longer capable of the full rigours of a football season.
And young McAtee is seen as a perfect fit, even if it’s only a loan.
Huddersfield and Swansea are also in the mix for the youngster but it is thought the seniors at Ibrox plus potential UCL and Europa League football would be outstanding for his development.
Like Amad Diallo and Aaron Ramsey it is not thought there would be any option to purchase.
This would be a top signing, and we hope it’s one the club can manage.
Incidentally his stats in the best youth league in the world (PL2) – 18 goals and 7 assists in 23 appearances.
The kid can certainly play.
Sounds like an exciting prospect if we were prepared to give him game time. But I do worry what that would mean for Alex Lowry who I consider a real prospect.
