While Rabbi Matondo is a RW by trade, he also happens to be versatile and can play the front channels equally well. But it’s the right he excels on and has played the most in and that’s his purpose if Rangers secure him.
Which would finally mean a proper RW at long last, and hopefully one who makes the slot his own.
But even more than that – most of Rangers’ squad is now fitted and booted and looking well rounded, and is shaping up far better than it was.
Goals is relatively fine – we could probably use someone a bit better than an aging McGregor and journeyman McLaughlin, and there’s McCrorie too, but it’s certainly not a priority. We’d still make an addition there though.
Defence is sorted – it is chock-full of talent and no one new is needed. We have two RBs, two LBs, and 4 centre-backs, 5 if you include Bassey, 6 if you add Simpson. That’s sorted for sure.
Midfield is filled. Davis, Jack, Kamara, Lundstram, Arfield and Kelly suggests we have enough in there. The only additions would be if Kamara is sold.
Wings is sorted too – Kent, Lawrence, Wright, possibly Matondo and arguably Sakala. Roofe… yeah, you know the story there. Injured, apparently.
Attacking midfield IS a bit threadbare now – just Lowry at present. Hagi won’t be back till next year at the earliest, so we plan for life without him. Fulgini is in the works and we could probably do with him.
And up front? Injured Morelos who’s still a wee bit away from fitness, and Colak who mercifully is fully available.
So, while the bulk of the squad is now looking nicely filled out, it’s pretty clear a second striker and AM are required, assuming Matondo arrives.
It’s in a far better state than it was, just requires a few more choice additions.
More firepower up front needed for sure,we dont want another Aribo up front scenario due to injuries

The defence still needs another ,hellander and soutar injury prone and bassey will most probably play at left back first choice ,if that is his best position play him there .
Disagree I think we are more than well covered in there. Bassey can play in there as can Sands. We’ve also got Leon King and at a push we know Lundstram can fill in there.
I dont really rate sands so far ,lundstrum prefered position and best midfield, and king just a young boy ,bassey best at left back .
I dont think we should be thinking about shifting players about in to positions thats not their prefered position ,thats when problems begin ,another proven defender for me, preferably thats not gonna be on treatment table half a season or more .
Long hard season on the way with 4 trophies to play for /50 or more games .
