With Alfredo close to a deal at Rangers, aside fans naturally being pleased at this news is the elephant in the room of Ryan Kent being in the same position, but there being a conspicuous silence over the winger’s plans.

Morelos is the headline name yes, and his contract is a big deal, but the former Liverpool man, who has come in for a bit of unfair criticism in recent times from some fans looking for a scapegoat, hasn’t yet rushed to commit to a new deal.

He has been offered one.

We know his situation:

He’s bought a big house up here now, with his partner, who returned to Scotland after having worked south of the border for a period. Both of them are happy here, with Kent’s only previous issue being traveling south constantly.

But all logistics are sorted, and he now has a contract on the table. So what’s holding him back?

He knows if he signs it he reduces his PL chances massively – signing a new deal means PL sides would have to pay double, with less likely to want to do that, and if there’s a chance of a PL side making an offer now, Kent would surely have the right to explore that.

So, he loves it here but still harbours ambitions of the PL one day.

That said, we’d love him to sign and commit and put it to bed, but it does mean highly reducing his PL chances. Joe Aribo got his move because he was half price.

So, what are we saying?

Kenty, it’s over to you – make the right choice mate, and put this one to sleep.

  1. I’ve been harping on for weeks that’s what he should do , either put pen to paper or get his agent to get him a move . I hope he stays then starts to find consistency in his game. He’s well capable of still going to the EPL if that’s his dream, but only he can make that happen .
