GVB has confirmed today what we told you earlier this week, that Rabbi Matondo will be spared Livi’s fake pitch in prep instead for saving him for Belgium.

The 21-year old instant fan favourite went for a precautionary scan last week after something was detected at the open training session, and results are said to have been positive, but regardless of the outcome the lad wasn’t being risked on 5G or broadband or whatever the hell the plastic rubbish is called nowadays.

It means Scott Wright may start on the right again, unless Gio mixes around with Kent, Tillman and Lawrence.

But we’re not shocked at all that the boss has kept Matondo out of tomorrow’s season opener, because frankly we shouldn’t need him to overcome Livi.

Our biggest opponent tomorrow is the surface rather than the hosts, so the Wales international is being rightly kept out of proceedings.

But a young player who still has a bit of building up to do while running REALLY fast is definitely not the right attacker to have on a pitch that is only too happy to wreck players.

We’ll see him soon.

  1. Here we are first game of the season and not risking players on these awful surfaces. Wake up SPFL and ban these pitches at the top level before more players have their careers wrecked. For so called top level clubs to be unable to sustain a grass pitch is an embarrassment to Scotland.
