Rangers have made a big signing this summer, and he won’t kick a ball. The man responsible for some pretty epic scouts at Celtic, John Park, such as Virgil van Dijk, Fraser Forster, Victor Wanyama and Moussa Dembele, takes up the same job at Rangers now, and Rangers could be in line for some real gems as a result.

Just like Kenny McDowall all those years ago spent years at Celtic before joining Rangers, Park takes up a hugely important mantle following the exit of Andy Scoulding, and if we’re honest, we’re much happier with Park than the outgone man.

We don’t blame Scoulding purely for so many of the Gerrard duffs that we ended up with, but it was on his watch and he was the boss – so he’s not an exit we were too sorry about.

Now with Park in place we hope to have a much cleaner and more clinical scouting system – he won’t be the chief, from what we see we don’t have a figure of that nature in place any more – Park will be a senior part of the overall scouting system at Ibrox all under the watch of Sporting Director Ross Wilson.

Do we expect our own Dembele and VVD? Well we found the former under Pedro (Morelos) and the latter under Gerrard (Bassey) so it’s not like we’ve not managed that before, but Park is well-rated for finding these gems and hopefully he helps find us a few more hidden jewels.

Welcome John.
