Rising star Thompson Ishaka strutted his stuff for the B team last night with an impressive performance as a trialist for David McCallum’s side, as the London-born Nigerian (sound familiar?) vied for a place at Rangers’ Academy.
The AMG Ballerz charge, which, for those who don’t know is where Joe Aribo (remember him) started, stood out on the right wing with good pace, trickery and movement not to mention vision, and should have had at least one penalty.
Whether his position is absolute or subject to change we’re not sure, but the speedy flanker caused Elgin major issues in Rangers’ 4-0 thumping, and he may have done enough to secure himself a professional deal.
Very similar physically to a young Calvin Bassey, the youngster even won BL Ballers Cup 2022 Player Of The Tournament which took place in Leicester, Bassey’s old stomping ground, so there’s a lot of connections here.
We’ll see if the Academy were happy enough to offer him a deal.
