We’re at a loss as to this morning’s claims Rangers will profit from the revised cinch deal, when there is absolutely no evidence the club will do so.

A number of outlets have led with the surprise headline that despite no longer being obliged to carry the car dealership’s branding Rangers will still earn profit from the £28M deal, but curiously not a single one seems to have presented an iota of proof that this is true.

Indeed, one outlet has led with the allegation it won’t hurt Rangers’ sponsorship profit or prize money, and we have to pick at that:

There is no evidence for the first claim, it’s just being spouted without a hint of explanation.

And secondly, why WOULD it affect prize money, this move has absolutely nothing to do with prize money at all.

So once again Rangers’ name is dramatically used for dramatic headlines which appear to have either no basis in fact at all, or are a statement of the ‘bleeding obvious’.

We’re not saying 100% that Rangers will no longer profit from cinch (although why would we?) but there’s nothing reported to back up the tabloid claims to the contrary.

Usual press piffle!
