Morelos is back at Rangers but the bookies want him gone

Reports from Spain claiming Villarreal are now in the hunt for Alfredo Morelos are exactly the same as the ones which first surfaced a few weeks ago involving Sevilla.

The entire report is odds-based, and is simply telling the reader the various clubs’ odds for signing the Colombian.

Favourites are currently Aston Villa, apparently, with Palace, Villarreal, Sevilla and Everton all in the running.

There’s no question Morelos is a desired player, but that in five years we have received just two actual bids for him (Fenerbahce and their £2.5M loan bid and Lille with a £16.5M bid) says a lot about who has actually put their money where their mouth is.

Morelos himself is happy to stay, happy to go – ever since around two years ago, the Colombian has stopped talking up a move to the PL and has got his head down.

But his name has been used incessantly for traffic and this is another example of it.

Did Sevilla make a bid? No. They didn’t. In fact, aside speculation Morelos isn’t averse to a move there, there’s no evidence they’re even interested.

This is the same in Villarreal’s case – they’ve been added to the odds list in order to gain more bets, and so many of these are the way the bookies make their cash.

Morelos will never stop being used as click bait and bet bait.

And that’s really all we can say about it.

  1. Morelos could have stopped this nonsense if he had actually ever came out like gerry requested and said he wanted to be at rangers ,he never has .
It has Always been a source of frustration for me that he has never knocked it on the head ,when his employers pay him the best end of 40000 a week .Spare me the pish he doesnt speak english ….4 years here ?????.
Great player ,however we have had far better who have shown far more commitment in years gone by ,the fact two bids for him shows we in this country and himself think he is far better than the outside world does .
If no bids let him stay and play out his last year helping us to success then he can “escape ” to wherever it is he wants without this annoying transfer speculation every window .
Would much rather have players that want to be here .

  2. It’s rhe same conundrum with Morelos . He has shown piss poor attitude and has corrected that on several occasions. He is without doubt our top striker, in fact our only . Another with a 1 year contract scenario . Another example where the board seem to have stuck their heads in the sand , more concerned about that Cinch slash . Surprised that you guys haven’t done a peice on the whole 1 year left players and the amount of money we stand to lose. I met Mr Dave King on a flight from Heathrow the other day, he was with the Great Gary Player and I asked him if he was here to sort the board out again , he smiled and politely asked how I was……

  3. I think we are all fed up with this constant transfer speculation that has been going on for years. I am also a bit surprised with people going on about lack of funds at the club . We must have a lot of money in the bank after selling Patterson and our exploites in Europe last season.

  4. The Next accounts will confirm ,all gueswork just now ,However delaying signing of colac over 1-2 hundred thousand doesnt look good to me ,when no one else been signed .
