The mystery of Calvin Bassey and the Wolves snap has only added to the hype about the Nigerian, who is in action today for his country.
In short, Bassey confirmed he’d been to their training centre by way of a check in via his social media, and quickly deleted it.
This is all very confusing.
Bassey is currently in Morocco for his country’s AFCON qualifier, alongside team mate Joe Aribo and ex-team mate Leon Balogun, and yet this morning he posted a photo at Wolves’ training ground the Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground having used a chauffeur to get there.
The more telling notion is the fact he deleted it immediately, and yet more telling is the fact that since the Scottish Cup final saw speculation skyrocket about his future, Bassey hasn’t said anything publicly to commit to the club.
This is exactly the same scenario which preceded the exits of Nathan Patterson and Steven Gerrard, when intense speculation about alleged moves out failed to be dismissed by either, and Rangers fans were greeted with silence.
This faux pas from Bassey was clearly a blonde moment, where he wanted to promote the chauffeur company, but completely forgot that it would give away where he was.
Why he was there could be many reasons, but without a reason to clear up the ‘error’ of posting it, the most obvious answer is probably the correct one.
Whether this means Bassey’s leaving for Wolves, we have no idea, but the chances of a player like him being there just for the laughs of it is pretty low.
They better have some deep pockets.
Having seen the reports on this and deleted messages ,seems a wee bit sneaky .Just be honest with the fans ,if he wants away fair enough as long as we get the CASH .
