An Ibrox Noise Statement

The response to our Billy Gilmour piece earlier was extremely predictable. Lots of fans misunderstanding the article, and aggressively defending Gilmour, while telling us that we were liars.

All they had to do was scroll down a little on our social media channels to see the hordes of fans in the last couple of days who have been slating the lad, criticising him, and while not quite hating (although in some cases we’re not sure) him, certainly disliking him and castigating his decision of years ago.

See, what you guys and gals might not realise is being a community of hundreds of thousands of Rangers fans, Ibrox Noise sees EVERY view.

So when a cluster of fans destroy something, we see it – we see the dozens to hundreds of comments condemning Gilmour, or expressing a particular opinion.

Then we might talk about that.

Only for those who don’t share that opinion to then pipe up in staunch rebuttal, having not seen the original article/comments in response, and sharing their disgust at us and calling us liars.

See, we’re at the daily centre of tens of thousands of you, so we see every day the general climate and picture of so many Rangers fans.

And we like to take all your opinions seriously, that’s why we talk about them.

But the unfortunate side effect of this is when those who DON’T have a particular opinion then come hammering in with their size 12s and tell us we’re talking out our rear ends for it. Having completely missed the earlier content.

It’s the nature of being among so many fans.

Ibrox Noise will never stop talking about Rangers, about what we like, what we don’t, and what you like and don’t.

It’s what we do, as well as bringing you all the news and views from Govan.

But next time you see us with an article discussing fan opinion, maybe remember that really is what we saw from literally dozens, hundreds or even thousands of you.

We don’t make things up here.
