£10M Joe Aribo story as Palace are linked

The story yesterday claiming Crystal Palace are ‘serious’ about interest in Joe Aribo, comes from the same source (Jordan Campbell, Athletic) that claimed Leon Balogun was to extend his deal at Ibrox.

All we knew for sure, as we reported, was Balogun was in talks but nothing was certain.

This is not to have a go at Campbell or the Athletic – infinitely higher quality journalism than most of the rubbish out there and the journalist in question is a credible Rangers reporter, but like ourselves, like every ‘in the know’ source out there, he and they will get things wrong now and then.

Are Palace interested in Aribo?

Nothing tangible we’ve seen – the story came from Clickbait Insider months ago, and has been doing the rounds for the entire time since, and the player himself has poo pooed the story away saying he’s happy at the club and isn’t thinking of leaving.

Patrick Vieira has done a great job at Selhurst Park but we’ve had nothing to back up any supposed interested in one of our star Nigerian players.

But of course every player has his price, and mischievous rumours have put a £10M pricetag on Aribo’s head – we think he’d go for more than that, even if his stock isn’t quite as sky high as it maybe was at the start of the season.

He’s still an UEL final scorer, which is not a common club, and even more rarely, a Rangers European final scorer, which don’t show up too often.

He’s got one year left, and he’s one we’d like to see extended.

All in good time, we hope.

  1. I would think after Edouards “success” at palace ,viera might be thinking twice about signing a player from up here …..just saying ……
