James Tavernier has been effectively confirmed the player of the Europa League and the SPL 21/22 after being both named in the team of the UEFA tournament, as well as getting whoscored’s top award for SPL rating.

The RB, who had a blistering campaign, has hit new heights following the arrival of Giovanni van Bronckhorst, and where the first half of his 55 was sensational and world class, especially in Europe, 21/22 has gazumped that and been absolutely extraordinary.

As such, the Europa League awarded him a coveted place in the team of the season, while whoscored’s rating sees him out on top on his own domestically.

And there are still some, even in our own support, who mock the idea a player of this calibre isn’t worth the same as a £50M Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Sure, the rules are different in the PL, but Tavernier’s CV is absolutely incredible now, especially for a player who only cost the club around £300,000.

We’re not going to run a reel of all his achievements, but clearly the award-givers and those who know the game see fit to exalt him to the highest levels.

But no, he’s only like £10M tops…
