It wasn’t to be in Seville

It wasn’t to be. The football Gods sadly did not smile on us tonight, and we lost the complete lottery of a penalty shootout.

It’s hard to be angry. Sad, disappointed we didn’t win a sensational trophy, but we lost on pure bad luck.

Sure, Ramsey’s penalty was honking (and we assure you, he was absolutely devastated), but penalty shoot outs are intrinsically cruel.

It doesn’t feel like we lost a football match, or a UEL final – it feels like we didn’t buy the winning lottery ticket.

We got the luck in Florence in 2008, but this time it was with Eintracht.

Our opponent played well and were dangerous, we rode a bit of luck but managed to carve out a few chances.

And Ryan Kent will be kicking himself for effectively missing an open goal.

But it was what it was.

We made a European final and the players left everything on the pitch. We are proud of what they achieved.

It was, what it was…

  1. Ramsay,he isn’t us anymore…yes it would happen to any one but he is international player and should have scored even it’s lottery….

  2. Proud of the players for getting there and they have given their all in Europe this season. But can’t help thinking they just never turned up tonight. Eintracht were comfortably the worst team we played in the knock out stages with no real dangerous players and were there for the taking if only we believed. This put the tin lid of Aaron Ramsay’s time at Rangers. Sadly he won’t be remembered fondly.

  3. Still in shock , agree with Robrob57 they were the worst we played in the latter stages and were most definitely there for the taking. A few players didn’t deliver , it hurts .
