Hack fails in trickery attempt on Gio in Rangers presser

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronchkhorst refused to get suckered by German media after being asked to comment on how RB would be feeling having lost two matches in a row.

Gio, far too canny to give the hack the juicy quote he wanted, said he could only talk about himself and his team, not about the opponent.

Leipzig have lost two in a row and have a host of problems on their plate right now, and the German journo wanted Gio to say something on that, but Rangers’ boss is way too smart to be baited in that way and effectively offered no comment whatsoever.

If there is one thing Gio is, it’s very, very smart – he is one of the most fiercely intelligent managers Rangers have had for a long time, but cleverly understates it and makes no big deal of his noodle. The man has no ego whatsoever and doesn’t manipulate the media like some.

But what he is is nicely understatedly clever, and knows exactly how to play the media.

He gives little to nothing away, and if the German hack, called Martin something or other, thought he could outwit Gio into slipping up and making a comment on Leipzig’s poor form, he better think again.

Jon Dahl Tomasson Gio is not, thankfully.

  1. The Sun now having a pop at Rangers, “Celtic will get 5million more than Rangers if we both get CL.”
