Reports are today claiming Rangers have officially made contact over £3M Colombian striker Mateo Cassierra, after Russian commentator Roman Naguchev made the point on his national TV, going so far as to suggest GVB is well aware of the FC Sochi striker.

How he’d know this, we’re not completely sure, but the 25-year old hitman, who has never secured a cap for his country at senior level, has impressive numbers in the Premier Liga this season, with 14 in 22. That’s no mean feat.

However his stats up till this campaign are less notable, 5 in 34 for Ajax, 1 in 10 for Groningen, and 15 in 70 for Belenenses.

Of course, all players bloom at different ages, Cassierra is 25 and had a strong one last season, so maybe he’s worth the punt.

Transfer fee would be around £2-£5M – he’s under contract for another year, but we’ll see if the latest Colombian linked to Rangers is a goer.
