Chelsea join Bassey hunt as Rangers deal with bidding war

Added to Bayern Munich, Borussia and Villa are the goliaths of Stamford Bridge after Chelsea joined the incredible hunt for Rangers’ Calvin Bassey, with a belief they can replace the outging Antonio Rüdiger with the Nigeria star.

Bassey’s stock is continuing to rise, and it’s not just the midtable Villas that are looking to snap him up, but the top sides in Europe.

His exploits in the UEL final, the SC final and last night’s major announcement on the international stage with his finest performance in the Super Eagles’ shirt has seen him ‘soar’, to pardon the pun, and it’s developing so frequently that we’re struggling to keep up with it on Ibrox Noise.

Some have argued that a few performances and suddenly everyone wants him?

Well, this is how it works when you excel at the top level in football – one world class performance changes everything especially when done in a final, and then followed up by continued consistency.

In short, Bassey is seriously hot property and we’d be very surprised if a gigantic bidding war doesn’t start soon.

Price?

If Chelsea want him, as well as Dortmund and Munich, we can’t even begin to guess what Rangers can demand for his signature…

  1. If the bears are going to sell the big man then 30 to 40 million never mind were in Scottish football after all van dyck went for 75mil to Liverpool eventually he’s 22 only going to get better make sure there is a good sell on clause too hope he stays super player

    • Thts what ive been saying too, try get one of those sell on clauses (if we do sell) something like 25m with a 15% sell on clause.

  2. We must keep our good young players, he would tie down at lest 2 positions for 10 years, no price buys that, and we have already sold the future of the club with young Patterson leaving.

    • We can’t keep our young players. If they are good enough they will move onto better leagues, simple as that. And like it or not we need to sell our best players so we can move on as a club.

  3. Granted we could do so much with the money he would bring in if sold but I honestly think we should be keeping bassey he is a brick wall at back and only getting better and better

  4. Why sell your best player!?He’s still young, under contract and Rangers have made a few bob from their Euro exploits!?

  5. £60m Same as what McGuire went for I’d rather he stayed one more season for us i know it’s big money but this lad will just get better n better till he’s the BEST but the ball’s in our court down to Gio ,Ross n co.
