Rangers man likely out for the season amidst break
Helander confirmed out....

Rangers are certain to lose Filip Helander for the season after the stricken defender’s latest injury put him on crutches.

The 29-year old apparently suffered a fractured (or worse) foot ending his season in theory unless today’s scan produces a miracle, but the fact he cannot walk unaided is a pretty bleak sign.

And while he’s obviously no use in the UEL (which now may not be looking like such a shortsighted decision after all) he could be a bit of a miss in the SPL run in with just 2 main fully-fit defenders currently available in Goldson and Balogun. Calvin Bassey is utility.

Which, of course, provides that sensational opportunity to young Leon King to fill in as needed.

Rangers naturally have some tough matches coming up, in the split, and it would be quite a baptism of fire to slot the 18-year old in at this point, but if he’s made of the right stuff he’ll be able to handle it.

Either way, our heart goes out to Fil, who simply cannot get any luck this season. Just 11 appearances is a career low, and with his deal expiring in 2023, we suggest it’s unlikely it’ll be renewed.

Sad times.

  1. Think this is his third major injury since he arrived and I don’t think he was fit when he did arrive. Need to find more reliable players.
