Rangers fans have some indication just what level of player they’re getting in John Souttar after the Hearts man was included in the SPL team of the year as top central defender alongside Celtic’s Vickers.
The soon-to-be Rangers man was the topic of much fierce debate over whether he’d get his move in January or have to wait till the end of the season, which led to controversy at Tynecastle over including him in XIs or not.
But that all seems to have calmed down now and his performances this season have been recognised following his inclusion in the XI.
Indeed, interestingly, fellow players who did the voting excluded Rangers’ fan favourite Calvin Bassey, and ever-present Connor Goldson, neither of whom got enough votes from their peers to merit inclusion.
But Souttar did.
When players themselves rate the pros, you can take that seriously, and it’s evident John Souttar is going to be an outstanding signing for Rangers.
If he can just stay fit…
Souttar should enjoy the recognition while he can because he’s now a Rangers player and might never see it again. Seriously though I hope he does well but my fear is he just proves that he was a good Hearts player. I think we need better quality and you rarely find that buying from Scottish clubs.
