Alfredo Morelos has been ruled out of Sunday’s Old Firm clash with a confirmed thigh injury.

Following tests and scans the Colombian will miss his second Old Firm in a row, affecting Rangers’ chances somewhat and putting a heap of pressure on the front line to compensate for his absence again.

It’s a huge, titanic blow and there’s no overstating how much of an influence we’ve lost up front, and that we simply don’t have another player like him.

Rangers will hugely miss his pressing, his pressure, his hold up play, his space-making, his foul-winning and his pure nuisance factor, his being the best at that in the Scottish game maybe for as long as we remember.

His loss of goals aren’t the issue, he’s not been super free-scoring this season anyway – it’s the loss of his game everywhere else, and either Kemar Roofe or Fashion Sakala will have to heavily make up for this.

It puts pressure on GVB to find an alternative system that works without the Colombian, because the current setup depends on how the former HJK man plays.

Unwanted, but we must deal.
