Giovanni van Bronckhorst has solved a mystery for Rangers fans over the ‘demise’ of Steven Davis after the NI midfielder appeared to lose favour under Gio then got injured.
The manager has confirmed that after an early couple of appearances for him when he joined, Davis got injured pretty soon after, and the reason for his bench appearances has been a bitty injury, niggling away, not letting him start and keeping him able to play limited amounts but never a 90 minutes.
GVB said:
“Steven had a lot of problems with his injuries. He was never really fully available. Every time he was to start or be in contention he’d get a setback in training. But he’s now available so that’s the positive thing.”
In short, injury after injury has completely ruined his time at Ibrox since Gio came in, bad timing.
Davo could be set to play a role in the run in, but as Gio also hinted, it won’t be easy for him with the midfield options we now have.
But at least his experience and quality is there.
