Rangers have been hit by two new injury blows, the extent of either being currently unknown.
Midfielder John Lundstram went down on 25 minutes with an apparent ankle strain, and we’ll know the extent soon enough – hopefully he’s available for Thursday.
Meanwhile stricken defender Filip Helander cannot catch a break at all as, having just returned from a 5 month absence, he was hauled off in some distress after a major foot injury.
It’s a bitter blow for the ex-Bologna man, who sadly has seen his Ibrox spell completely curtailed by injuries, managing just 60 appearances in 3 seasons for the club, which averages out at about 20 a campaign.
Having already missed half a year, this is a desperately sad moment for him and we dearly hope the scan produces something positive.
As for Lunny, that looked, we hope, precautionary more than anything, with a fit and ready Steven Davis on the bench a risk not worth taking. We will find out hopefully that there’s good news there.
But our heart definitely goes out to Helander – he just cannot stay fit.
