Rangers comfortably dispatched St Mirren in a walkover 0-4 win in Paisley.

Ibrox Noise brings you our ratings for a decent result.

McGregor:

Didn’t have much to do but did have one very decent save to make. Still guilty of not really commanding his 6 yard box but then that’s nothing new. 6

Tavernier:

A good show from Tav, 50% crossing accuracy and an assist not to mention some shots shows what kind of a match he had. Defensively comfortable and basically did absolutely nothing wrong. 8

Goldson:

Other than clearing headers and blaming everyone else it’s hard to see what this guy is bringing to the side these days. 6

Helander:

Didn’t have a lot to do then was carted off. Swede cannot buy a break. Except to his foot. 5

Barisic:

So many fans seem to want Barisic to fail, considering Bassey far better in every way. But the big Croat took his chance today. Plenty of running down the left, a fair few crosses and looked to have a lot of confidence and energy back. He’ll be pleased with his afternoon. 7

Lundstram:

Was having his typical solid match but another injury saw him taken off as a precaution. Can’t really score 25 minutes. N/A

Aribo:

Invisible until the second half when some excellent runs and moves saw a bit of the old Joe come back. Then ‘that’ goal. Is this him finally returning? We hope so. 7

Ramsey:

Wasn’t horrible but didn’t impact the way he needs to given his reputation. Except in the way he didn’t want to with a quite farcical open goal miss. 5

Kent:

Opening assist but did fade a bit after that and only managed to pass the ball 15 times. Quiet. Rightly hooked at HT. 6

Sakala:

Lots of running and he tried to make things happen, but his quality is limited. That said, he did provide lots of space for Roofe with that movement, but once again his finishing isn’t great. 6

Roofe:

Roofe was truly on fire. A great hat trick, and benefited from a bit of a strike partner in Sakala taking the heat off him. We suggested a two up front could work, and it did. 9

Subs:

Davis:

Fans were thrilled to see him back in action and while that passing rate has taken a dip the past 12 months (he used to be in the 90s) he looked smooth enough otherwise. A very able replacement for Lunny. 7

King:

He impressed. Ok wasn’t put under huge pressure but showed enough to demonstrate he’s capable at this level. 6

Sands:

Can’t actually recall the American doing anything of note in an entire 45 minutes. He’s tidy but that’s it. 5

Wright:

He’s an honest trier but this was just about getting him some game time. His miss was horrific and while he had a good run, he just overall falls short of being good enough. But he did a sub’s job. 5

Diallo:

First touch took out 3 Saints players, second one was a sumptuous dummy. Did all the hard work to set himself up for a shooting chance and put it wide. Looked confident, involved, and tried to make things happen. There’s a player here, but of course what the fans saw was the miss. 6

Manager:

Gio selected a good team, one we liked the look of. It was a pseudo 4-3-2-1 and 4-3-1-2 all rolled into one and it frankly worked pretty well. He changed the XI, he changed the system, and he got a response. It wasn’t an incredible performance but it was good. He can look himself in the mirror after this one. 7

  1. Goldons constant moaning and face tripping him through matches must rub off on other players, there was one shot he had first half blootered over the bar and you seen him screwing his face moaning at one of his team mates. I might hv this completley wrong but he comes across as if he thinks hes better than a lot of our other players.

I 100% see what you mean now with Barisic LB over Bassey. The defence looked a lot more assured today. And he whipped a few good crosses in, something Bassey doesnt do much.
