“Twice as good” nonsense as Rangers travel to Serbia
GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - MARCH 10: Dejan Stankovic, Head Coach of Crvena Zvezda looks on prior to the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 Leg One match between Rangers FC and Crvena Zvezda at Ibrox Stadium on March 10, 2022 in Glasgow, Scotland. (Photo by Ian MacNicol/Getty Images)

This absolute nonsense from Dejan Stankovic is some of the worst piffle we can remember, in what amounts to the latest absolutely ridiculous ‘attack’ on the club from an opponent.

Ok, Stavros’ attempt worked out and he did get the better of us that day, but Robbie Neilson sure didn’t, and Stankovic’s first attempt didn’t work out too well either.

This whole ‘our atmosphere makes us twice as good’ drivel is actually hilarious. There’s no lie to say Red Star’s home ground may be up there as one of the most hostile in the football world, but one look at their results there in the Europa League is far from terrifying.

Two wins, 3 goals scored, and a loss. It’s hardly intimidating and as Ibrox Noise’s Derek points out, they are not a clinical team.

Hell, the first leg v Rangers proved that – any team can be clinical by being offside, it’s being onside and clinical that separates good and above from average.

And while we will show Red Star respect (which is more than they’re showing us) they are absolutely nothing to crow about.

We outclassed them at Ibrox, 3-0 being maybe slightly flattering but we earned it. And we go to their patch now and as long as we manage anything better than a 3-0 loss we’re through.

And Stankovic can huff up the tunnel, he can big up his team at home all he likes, Rangers will quietly get on with doing our business on the pitch and fate will decide which side deserves to go through.

Respect. Doesn’t cost much…

  1. I smell the fear, as he will get pelters on and off the pitch once we beat them. His disrespect is embarrassing and should motivate our players .
