Working on a Lowry deal...

The Rory Wilson story has spread a lot of wings, but here’s what we know for sure about the 16-year old hotshot hitman tearing up the goal charts.

1: He is being watched by a tonne of PL teams down south, and Man Utd, City, Newcastle, Liverpool, Everton, Villa and Brighton are among those interested.

2: He’d be another Gilmour, a player lost for pennies due to cross-border rules despite having all the potential in the world.

3: Reports Villa have as good as secured him are wide of the mark. Gerrard is interested but no one as yet has come close.

4: He could well be remaining at Ibrox after by no means deciding his future lies down south.

Billy Gilmour’s stuttering career is an example of why moving to the PL at a young age, despite the razmataz, isn’t necessarily the right move. Gilmour could well be a world class midfielder, but he struggled to break into Frank Lampard then Thomas Tuchel’s plans and had to make do with a loan at Norwich. In fairness he’s done well at the Canaries, ever since the diabolical Daniel Farke was fired and a real boss replaced him in Dean Smith, but a lowly relegation-destined PL side is not where he wants to be.

Wilson won’t want that future either, so the young man and his family will think long and hard about the right move for his first professional contract.

He’s got no lack of suitors, but evidently Rangers is the best place for him to be.
