Rangers return complete as Helander gets call up

Filip Helander’s return has been completed after the Swede was confirmed as part of the upcoming Sweden squad for the imminent round of Qatar 2022 qualifiers.

The tough stopper, so long absent following surgery, has finally made his way fully back into the Rangers fold following a 6-month absence, but he was announced in the upcoming Sweden crunch match with the Czechs to earn a playoff final v Poland, and will face Lindelof, Starfelt and Danielson for the two positions.

It is unlikely Helander will start, given how far off fitness he’s been, furthermore compounded with manager Janne Andersson’s preference for Super League defender Danielson which saw Helander relegated to bench for the Euros despite being prominent in qualifying.

We’d imagine it’ll be Lindelof and Danielson.

But it barely matters – it’s just nice to see another Ger called up for his national side, and you never know, maybe he’ll add to his 18 caps.
