Pressure is on Gio & Rangers as Celtic approach

Make no mistake about it, this is the most significant Old Firm for years, the first one where both sides are effectively neck and neck in a season, and where Rangers have both everything to gain and lose from the result.

This one sees the pressure on Giovanni, no doubt about it, after his rather poor managerial debut in the fixture earlier this year, and while Celtic will be quite happy with a draw, anything less than a win for Rangers is if not absolute disaster, pretty close to it.

It’s a must win, I mean, they always are, but events leading up to this one saw a 6 point lead turned into a 3 point deficit and that is down to Gio and Rangers.

He will be desperate to make amends.

In terms of personnel, it’s a tough one. We don’t know if we’ll have Alfredo Morelos at our disposal, or indeed what form Joe Aribo will be in.

GVB needs to pick the side he trusts to get a win, and that means attacking from the go, putting pressure on their rearguard.

The last time around was the most meek first half we can remember from a Rangers side in an Old Firm since the 2012- days, and we don’t want that again.

It’s a huge one, lots riding on it, more, as we say, for Rangers than our guests, but either way, it’s set up rather well for a heck of a match.

Game on.
