Abuse of Rangers star must stop

About time he got some support (Credit Rangers FC)

He might not have got a cap for it, but Amad Diallo’s call up for his country this international break defies the majority of Rangers fans who want the 19-year old hung, drawn and quartered before hurling him back to Old Trafford.

There is a real lack of support these days for a number of Rangers players, with Borna Barisic among the most prominent not to mention Aaron Ramsey and Connor Goldson, but Diallo is another victim of this mentality where a couple of underwhelming displays (let’s face it, he was extremely good at County) sees a Rangers player absolutely slaughtered to the point of abuse.

By his own fans.

Clearly Ivory Coast boss Patrice Beaumelle didn’t agree and called the winger up, and while he didn’t play, a call up is still a big deal for a player of his age who plays for a side as good as Les Éléphants.

Diallo is young. He’s learning. And he doesn’t need fans abusing him and insulting him.

Yes, he may have shirked a tackle or two, but would you rather that than he’s injured for 2+ months (think of Hagi and you might have your answer) in the hammer thrower SPL?

He’s also been given abuse over the offside moment v Utd, where the defenders appealed offside so he stopped playing. That was a young, learning, naïve error, and rather than defending his right to make a mistake at such tender years, fans instead turned on him, swearing at him and using every slur under the sun to justify why he should p*ss off back to England.

It’s not support, it’s abuse, and it’s a sad indictment of how some fans act that a young player is abused in a way these fans never would their own kid and would slaughter any other adult who tried it on theirs.

Diallo is talented, perhaps the SPL doesn’t suit him, but he’s a player, one Atalanta and Man Utd rated highly, and apparently the Ivory Coast do too.

But wee Rabbie think he’s a cowardly c*nt so he must be right?

  1. I’d like to see him as bit more off the bench to see what he’s capable of. Celtic was obviously way too much for him but he obviously has something about him.I’d still say he was still a mile off from deserving a starting berth though.
