Rangers have been given possibly the easiest draw in the last 16 after Serbia’s Red Star Belgrade or FK Crvena Zvezda came out of the hat in the first tie drawn this morning.
Following the side’s heroics v Dortmund, any of the seeded teams were there for Rangers’ taking, but a slightly underwhelming trip to Serbia looms, if indeed it’s deemed safe given the chaos in relatively nearby Ukraine (Romania separates both nations) with Rangers given every chance against fourth-outsider Red Star.
Second in their domestic league, they are domestic champions (sound familiar) with just Partizan Belgrade ahead of them, and they’re well known for spreading the goals around with no less than four top scorers in the country’s top 10.
It won’t be a walkover, but it’s the easiest draw Rangers could have had, give or take.
Now they’ll trounce us Praha style…
