Major injury blow as Gio rules key Rangers star out for Hibs
Best of luck, Andy Firth....

Rangers have lost Ryan Jack yet again after Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirmed the stellar midfield’s knock against Hearts was slightly more damaging than feared and he’ll miss the visit of Hibs.

The returning midfielder, having suffered around 12 months of injury hell, finds himself once again on the sidelines, and after it was initially believed Rangers were at full strength for tomorrow’s fixture, Gio has had to pour cold water over that one and confirm the bad challenge, unpunished, on his ankle, has led to a hangover and he won’t be ready till the weekend.

It’s a bit of a blow, but as long as he recovers from it reasonably swiftly it’s not the end of the world.

Rangers have a ridiculous amount of depth in midfield, and with the rejuvenated John Lundstram hitting form again and being played in the correct position, the ex-Sheffield man should have enough to cover for Jack more than sufficiently.

There’s also Glen Kamara and Scotty Arfield, all of whom can roll their sleeves up, not to mention Aaron Ramsey, so Rangers have Jack covered.

That said, the ex-Aberdeen man is fairly unique, and a major reason for Rangers’ renaissance since the second half of Celtic, so missing him is a blow.

Hopefully he’ll be back very soon.

  1. Kamara or Davis will step in. No problem. But the injury highlights how ridiculous it was that we never even got a foul for that tackle. It’s hard to criticise the referee though. He was at least 8 feet away from the incident with a clear view. It must be difficult for him. Yet he booked Balogun for a brilliant tackle at the other end.
