Jack set to miss matches as SFA prepare retro punishment for Ranger
It wasn't a good tackle at all...

The Ryan Jack tackle yesterday 99% means we’ll lose him retrospectively for two matches. There’s no case to answer, it was a shocker, and he got his timing completely wrong.

Jack is not a malicious player, anyone in the game will tell you that – he’s an honest, tough, physical defensive midfielder and we remember from the distant past when he used to have a multitude of disciplinarian issues.

Those are long since gone, of course, but this was a little glimpse back into the risks a player like him takes as part of the style of cavalier play in the middle of the park that he specialises in.

It was a horrible tackle, and it’s one Madden, who was also having a mare of a match, missed completely – awarding just a foul.

Ergo, Jack will get a two match ban, and we’ll lose him for them.

The Scottish international is a force of nature, but he visibly tired yesterday, losing a lot of focus and impact as the match deepened, which just shows he’s still not quite back to his lung-bursting best, even if his play is right back to where it was, till he tires.

And Gio, having suggested he’ll manage Jack’s minutes, strangely elected to start him on Sunday even despite just two full days’ recuperation.

This is why rotation is necessary – Jack isn’t ready/able for match after match yet, and that rotten challenge is evidence.

It means the DM will be forced into a little break whether he likes it or not, and hopefully it refreshes him.

No point burning the guy out.

  1. This is ridiculous.if the ref didn’t do anything the SFA should keep its beak out.or start taking action about refs not doing there job correctly.

  2. If they penalise jack for the tackle the Ref did not see why not award the penalties he missed and penalise the culprites
