Giovanni van Bronckhorst has cryptically evaded the topic of Fashion Sakala, Kemar Roofe and Jon McLaughlin’s mysterious absences in Germany by admitting only that they weren’t available and hopefully will be for Dundee Utd.
Rumours pre-match claimed Roofe and Sakala were not double-jabbed, which meant they were unable to gain entry to Germany, and GVB was unable to deny this, refusing to comment in any detail on the trio.
He said:
“We brought the squad to Germany with the players who were available, and we couldn’t bring them with us. We have to see today, hopefully they can be involved with the squad on Sunday.”
Of course all three were named in the UEL squad for the tie, and while pre-match rumours also alleged Ryan Kent was staying at home too, that was clearly false.
But the Roofe and Sakala one is odd, and quite simply no explanation was offered.
We don’t believe they’re injured, but Gio further added ‘hopefully’ they can be part of the squad on Sunday, which is even more curious.
Intriguing.
