England coach watched Ryan Kent – shock call up on the cards?

Rangers could be in line for a shock England cap after Steve Holland, at Ibrox to scout Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, couldn’t fail to be impressed with Ryan Kent who destroyed the Germans two matches running.

The Rangers winger, hitting a peak of form the past few weeks, has often been touted for a look in at national level, but with such depth in the England squad it was feared he would struggle to stand out playing in the SPL.

But Holland, assistant manager to national coach Gareth Southgate, was at Ibrox on Thursday to scope Bellingham, and can’t have failed to notice Kent’s world class display either.

Is Kent in line for an English call up?

Maybe.

He is clearly good enough, and destroying a team of the calibre of Dortmund over two matches proves he’s clearly got what it takes to deliver at that level.

Of course, England are chock-full of top quality in every department, with Bellingham just one rival for the jersey in Kent’s position, but it’s certainly not beyond the realm of possibility that Holland will have been alerted to Kent as a result of his two sensational legs v Borussia.

We watch and wait.
