Aaron Ramsey being ruled out tonight (again) is showing this signing to, sadly, have been a waste of time.

He’s completely unfit, miles off match fitness, and has managed less than 100 minutes of football since arriving in Glasgow.

It doesn’t REALLY matter, most signings generally don’t really work out anyway – the last signing window to have been useful for the club was summer 2020 – Hagi was made permanent, we got Kemar Roofe and added Balogun too. And it turns out Calvin Bassey was a very nice addition 18 months later.

Ok they weren’t earth-shattering additions, but they did mostly work out.

Since then, winter last year, summer last year, and January past the signings have not really succeeded, with very little added that has made us stronger. Some would argue for Sakala and Lundstram but Sakala hasn’t forced his way into the first team properly and Lundstram has been in and out of the side.

The point, Ramsey not working out isn’t really that big a deal. Our midfield was already the strongest area of the pitch, and the reality is if a top class star becomes available, you take the gamble.

We’re not paying his £400,000 a week wages, but whatever we are paying we’re getting no return from. Which is the risk you take on a gamble like this.

He has just over two months left, and that’s not enough time to leave an impression if you’re not fit in the first place.

Let’s be frank, it’s not working out and he can probably go back to Turin.
