Vitesse are ready to hold Rangers to ransom after confirming they will demand a £2M transfer fee for £2.7M-rated Danilho Doekhi if Rangers and he decide to make the switch to Govan in January.
The 23-year old defender has been on GVB and Rangers’ radar for some time now, and has been vocal in advocating a switch to Govan in the near future.
But Vitesse are determined to get some serious cash and hold the Famous to ransom by demanding almost 100% of his market value DESPITE his contract being up in 5 months.
It’s a pretty dodgy tactic, because Doekhi’s purchase value is currently very low, barely £500,000, but due to his importance to their push for European places, the Dutch side have decided if he is to be transferred this winter, Rangers will have to fork out almost full price for him.
This probably changes any plans to bring him in now, unless Ross Wilson carries out another Hagi or Bacuna buy now pay later deal, which would work in Rangers’ favour.
Otherwise, it will be the pre-contract that’s been hyped for so long.
More as we get it.
