Connor Goldson’s future has finally, it seems, been decided, and he’s leaving for England. For the Championship.
The vice-captain didn’t get the PL offers he was looking for, but both suitors Nottingham Forest and West Brom are strong promotion candidates and Goldson is free to discuss with both a move south.
It would bring to and end one of the most drawn-out sagas in Rangers’ history, with his contract negotiations having started in October 2020, before a formal offer that we are aware of being delivered in May.
And here we are, following January and it was never signed.
Subsequently Goldson has, it appears, been in active chat with sides south of the border, but any notion he might have had of getting a top flight team have been dispelled and it’s Championship sides leading the promotion chase he’s getting instead.
This is a breaking story, but certainly explains further Rangers’ urgency in trying to get John Souttar as promptly as possible.
More as we get it.
Not many Rangers fans will miss Connor. Its a pity we couldn’t get so.e money for him, he always seems to have a potential mistake in his game that’s probably why he wouldn’t cut it in the EPL.
