Surprise Rangers recall for Itten as Katic remains in Croatia

The big puzzle right now is with Cedric Itten’s return imminent, many fans would wonder why Croat Niko Katic wasn’t enjoying the same privilege.

Both attack and defence are a little light on resources at present, and thinned even further with Jermain Defoe’s confirmed exit.

Currently we have just one striker available, in the form of Fashion Sakala, with others unavailable or doubts for various reasons.

However defence is a bit tricky as well, as we know. John Souttar is reported to be keen to arrive in Govan this month, but alongside Connor Goldson and Calvin Bassey he’d be the only available CB on Rangers’ roster.

Which does beg the question of why Niko Katic hasn’t been recalled too.

It may be be imminent, the big Croat may get the surprise word from Glasgow to go back to Rangers and report for duty, but we’ve heard nothing on it despite the fact that in exact similar circumstances Itten got the call.

Rangers are the ones to have initiated the return of the Swiss, being light up front at present and Gio wanting to give Itten a bit of a shot, but the same privilege, at present, is not being afforded to Katic.

And we do wonder why that is.

We could probably use the depth.

But in Gio we Trust.

  1. You forgot about Helander he’s back in training and he I my opinion will enhance the defence and is also the best defender at the club.

  2. When is Katic contracted to ? Do you think he could mabay get a chancr next season ? Mabay Gio is just letting him get back to his best on loan. He was out for a very long time.
