An extraordinary stat has emerged going back to December 2019 at Ibrox, and demonstrates just how much of a corner Rangers have turned over the past 4 years.

That stat did come under threat last night, but was preserved, and we can now tell you what it is.

Rangers have now gone 3 and a half years without dropping points twice in a row more than once in all competitions in which it was possible to do so.

That’s right, excluding domestic cups (in which points of course are not available) and European KO rounds (again, no points available) Rangers have only dropped points twice in a row once since winter 2019, a record which itself held for 3 years till September last year, when losing to Lyon and subsequently drawing with Motherwell.

Aside that, Rangers haven’t dropped points two in a row since late 2019, to Aberdeen then Young Boys (albeit that one was separated by a cup match)

And domestically league-wise haven’t dropped points two in a row since March 2019, Killie then Celtic.

Last night was nearly only the third time in three and a half years, but Scotty Arfield preserved the record.

It shows how robust we have actually become the past half decade, and how the winning mentality which we lost for a while has clearly returned.

A lot of it, of course, is down to Steven Gerrard and his management team. For all they got wrong, and they did get a lot wrong, stats did take a massive hike under him.

And Gio appears to be continuing that trend.

Long may it continue further.
