John Souttar has reportedly changed his mind yet again and dumped all notion of any Championship clubs to sign for Rangers.

The 25-year old stopper was expected to join Rangers this window as his first choice, but if a deal couldn’t be done he was to go to England as a free agent in the summer.

But news coming through sees that all changing again, and whether it’s immediate or a pre-contract, Souttar is said to have ditched all notion of going to England and now prefers Rangers as first choice, regardless of when the move happens.

It’s been a modest January saga involving the Hearts defender, and the choice had been Rangers in January, or not at all, and consequently Blackburn or Nottingham on a pre-contract for the summer.

But the Championship sides now appear gone from the picture, and Souttar will either be a Rangers player before the end of the window, or come this summer.

Hearts manager Robbie Neilson did harbour some small hope of holding onto Souttar, but it appears the Gorgie boss has conceded defeat on that and it’s only a matter of time before Rangers make an announcement.

More as we get it.
