Rangers’ attack gets almighty upgrade

With the return of Joe Aribo, and the arrival of Man Utd’s Amad Diallo, there’s no question Rangers have experienced themselves one hell of an upgrade.

True, Colombia’s Alfredo Morelos is currently on international duty, but on the former HJK man’s return Rangers can enjoy a front four of Morelos up top (£20M), backed by Ryan Kent (£20M), Joe Aribo (£25M) and Diallo (£40M).

While these prices are crude, we certainly know one of them is bang on while others are estimates, but either way it’s the most financially valuable attacking quartet Rangers have had since 2012, and potentially, by some distance, the best.

Back in midfield we have Scotty Arfield who’s rarely been in better form, the ever-consistent Glen Kamara subject to interest from Aston Villa, and the returning Ryan Jack who is a bit away from fitness but when back in the zone is indispensable.

And at the rearguard a healthy bunch of options should the Souttar and Doehki deals arrive soon, and even if they don’t we’re not totally short there either. That is, however, the one area which needs a little TLC still.

But it’s that attack, that clutch of four players without us even mentioning Fashion Sakala or the rising star Alex Lowry that gets us very excited.

Some fans seem disquieted by January’s work and have practically conceded the league to Celtic already, but we consider that poppycock.

It’s filled with absolutely top players, with plenty of depth and quality and personnel capable of bringing 56 home.

It’s exciting stuff and the window still has three days to go.

Still time for James McAtee…
