We’re not sure what the hoo hah in the media over Alfredo Morelos’ call up to Colombia was, it was a borderline known fact the Colombian was getting the nod and would miss the Old Firm next month.

But yes, the former HJK man will indeed, as Ibrox Noise reported weeks ago, represent his country for the world cup double header leaving us another man short next month as we travel to Parkhead.

Rangers’ options in that one were already going to be thin with the loss of el-bufalo, leaving just Fashion Sakala and Cedric Itten as currently definitely available.

Kemar Roofe is back in training but there’s no firm ETA on when he can feature again in the match day squad so we can’t rely on his services to be there in just under two weeks.

Which does mean a lot of pressure is on Itten and Sakala at present to find the goalscoring touch in that one with no Morelos to call upon.

Of course, our green and white ‘chums’ will be without a few players themselves, so it does kind of even itself up a little, but with Rangers still nursing a number of guys with injury recovery, it’s a bit up in the air who will actually be available for the big one.

But Alfie is a really big miss.
