English press has claimed it’s received source info from Glasgow that defensive target John Souttar prefers a move to England.
The 25-year old is under heavy speculation right now amidst his contract ending and desire to better himself, but while Rangers had been in a strong position to secure a lucrative Bosman, the press down south claim he has ‘rejected’ that and seeks the Championship instead.
Blackburn Rovers, Sheffield United and Nottingham Forrest are all interested, with Stoke City having pulled out, and it’s now down to the choice of four including the Famous for the Scotland international.
But if the information from south of the border is correct, Souttar has effectively rejected Rangers and will make his way to the Championship instead.
We can sort of understand. The Championship is a vastly superior league to the SPL, and Souttar’s aim is to grow as a player week-in-week-out. Only so much growing you can do up against Alan Power.
But Rangers are a much bigger club than anything in that league, so it’s an interesting decision.
If it’s final.
He’ll at least get to experience European football for real if he joins us I understand that most championship clubs could pay more wages than us but where does it leave his ambitions those championship club’s are mid table clubs at best
