Gio updates Rangers fans on potential Souttar January bid
A good update!

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst appears to have confirmed no bid will be made for Hearts’ John Souttar this January, and the defender will arrive at Ibrox as agreed in the summer.

The 25-year old stopper, subject to speculation over whether he’d make the move to Rangers immediately or wait 5 months, is likely, as things stand, to indeed be holding off till June, but even despite GVB’s words, it’s not impossible a change of heart could see a bid now.

Souttar is struggling with some deep vitriol and abuse from Gorgie fans, disgusted their prize asset has left for nothing following all his injury issues, and it is a contention that he could be the target for the boo boys at Tynecastle if he remains.

But Gio’s statement today seems to hint nothing is coming from Rangers as of present to resolve this, and no payment will be forthcoming to the nature of Hearts’ demands (£500K plus addons).

So it appears we’ll be waiting, and unfortunately Souttar will have to tolerate the angst from his (former) fans for a while longer.

  1. I’m glad to hear this. The way the rest of Scottish football treats us is disgraceful so why should we fill their coffers when we don’t need to. Take their best players and give them nothing. Let the Hearts boo boys do their worse and scupper their chances of finishing 3rd.

  2. I really think rangers should be getting john soutter the now and pay hearts the fee after all theyve got the money they earned from nathan patterson move.or they will end up loosing him for good.dissapointed fan think yous need to get players in fast
