Gio delivers Helander update – ‘confirmation’ on Old Firm status

As we hinted to you recently, Filip Helander still isn’t ready for a first-team return after manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst could only say he’s progressing well but is still a bit away.

The Swede has been out for a colossal period, his Rangers career being rather injury-hit to say the least, and he was overlooked completely a week ago when the manager was discussing the injury situation.

This strongly told us that the news wasn’t great from him, and that he’d still be out a little longer, and Gio has now confirmed that.

He said:

“Helander is training and doing well but is a little too soon.”

This hints he is very very touch and go for the Old Firm, and we’d suggest his chances of making it are close to nil, but you never know.

But unfortunately, as we said some months ago, he has indeed missed January and hopefully February is his month to finally come back and cement his place in the team.

We certainly need him.
