Rangers tonight confirmed the absolute shock and whirlwind capture of a player 99% of fans would have mocked yesterday being linked to the club after Wales and Juve superstar Aaron Ramsey committed pen to paper on a 6-month loan deal.

Let’s not mince our words, while Ramsey’s time in Italy didn’t go as well as he’d hoped, and he’s had an injury trouble or two, on the scale of Rangers’ biggest-ever signings the former Arsenal midfielder is well up there with Gazza and Laudrup.

His name is big, very big, and that he chose Rangers over a host of PL sides gives some idea of the lucrative name we have here.

You have to hand it to Ross Wilson and Gio, the Sporting Director pulled off an absolutely magical coup here and GVB sealed the deal with his sheer reputation – Rangers’ management have brought in a genuine star to Rangers, one not past his sell-by date but just ready to make his mark in football again.

Add this to another world class (yes, Ramsey is world class, sorry Celtic fans and handwringing Rangers fans who might disagree) signing in Amad Diallo and Rangers have just enjoyed one hell of an upgrade in the past week.

Sure, the defence is a shambles right now, but there’s little lacking in the quality of midfield to front, and additions like Ramsey and Diallo have taken us up a serious notch. In the past one week Rangers have just signed £80M word of talent (Juve paid £40M for Ramsey) – true it’s on loan, but that doesn’t alter how good these players are.

Aaron Ramsey is now a Rangers player.

Let that one sink in.

  1. Ramsay could be a season changer. Our defence was lax on Saturday agree , which included very rare Greggsy mistakes . But this guy is truly WC . We need to get Katic back and Hellander fit ASAP.

  2. I was in the “don’t be ridiculous” camp when I first heard this but congratulations to Ross Wilson for somehow getting this over the line. Juventus’s part in this move makes a mockery of once again a Scottish club (Hearts) being impossible to deal with and trying to screw us for everything. I’m glad we didn’t overpay for Souttar. Scottish football deserves absolutely nothing from us.

    • PS: Overall we need to get any or all of Helander, Balogun and Jack back to sort out our defensive woes before too much damage is done. Offensively Diallo and Ramsay have increased our attacking options greatly as is the gradual return to fitness of Roofe and the imminent return of Morelos. Hopefully Diallo will take some of the attacking pressure off Kent and help him find his best form.

  3. Lets hope he can get up to speed quickly. Is tht the window shut now ? Can we get a CB in by the morning ? Or is that it shut permanently to the summer ? Getting a new CB or even calling Katic back would hv been the perfect window. Also how do yous rate the new RB we got in ?
