“Take your medicine” – Rangers hero on reality at Ibrox
He surely deserves one?

Scott Arfield has pragmatically suggested he’s probably not a first choice at Rangers, but is always eager to help whatever way he can and will do everything he can to get that shirt when he can.

Speaking at the pre-Hearts presser, the dynamic midfielder covered a range of topics, including the freshening up of the team Giovanni van Bronckhorst has instigated, but it was his comments on his own position which intrigued.

He said:

“I think you think that with the calibre of player the best you can do is make sure you’re involved with the picture. With the calibre of player you’ve got people trying to take your shirt every game and that’s what breeds confidence and that’s what breeds success.”

Fair comments indeed, and the way it should be.

He went on:

“Whenever you’re called upon you do your best to try and grab that shirt, if he thinks it isn’t a game for you you take your medicine, sit down and help the team in a different way.”

In reality, Arfield is absolutely one of the most important and useful players at the club, who gives something no one else does.

He’s valuable, but humble, and we’re a better team when he’s involved.
