Rangers to have major advantage at Parkhead after government ruling…
GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - MARCH 21: Rangers player Glen Kamara (l) shares a joke with team mates during the warm up before the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park on March 21, 2021 in Glasgow, Scotland. If, and it’s a BIG if now, the Old Firm does go ahead on the 2nd of next month, it will be an effective closed-doors match after Nicola Sturgeon confirmed a ban on crowds larger than 500 for outdoor events.

Covid cases, as we expected, are rising again, and following the latest numbers the Scottish government, unlike Westminster, have decided on measures to reduce the spread, which means there will be only a handful of fans at Parkhead, should the fixture even take place.

We have no idea if any of them would be Rangers fans at all, we imagine it would be 500 home supporters, and it’s a bit of a return to last season where empty stadiums in Scotland (and of course globally) became commonplace.

Wales already have a lockdown for sport in place, an even tighter one than Scotland by way of a total ceasing of any crowds anywhere, and absolutely 100% closed doors for all sport, so Scotland isn’t that strict yet.

But as things stand, it will be essentially an empty Parkhead for Rangers’ trip east if the match does go ahead.

Which would definitely play into the visitors’ hands for sure.
