Rangers chief ‘confirms’ Goldson exit
GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - APRIL 11: Connor Goldson of Rangers warms up prior to the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Hibernian at Ibrox Stadium on April 11, 2021 in Glasgow, Scotland. Rangers are set to say goodbye to Connor Goldson this January after Ross Wilson’s confirmation that the wage structure will not be violated in order to accommodate any player.

Said to be wanting £42K a week and to be the club’s top earner, Goldson rejected a deal in the spring, having been in negotiation since October 2020, and the situation has rumbled on thereafter

Becoming a bit of an unpopular player in recent months, the vice-captain didn’t help his case with a dreadful ‘surrender’ comment after the Hibs match, and has effectively now become the most targeted scapegoat at the club when anything goes wrong.

It’s safe to say his immunity under the ex-manager hasn’t helped his situation much either, and with the DoF confirming there will be no new offer for Goldson, he is free to talk to other clubs in January and is likely to be sold if a modest offer arrives.

Otherwise he will be a free transfer come the summer.

Vitesse’s Danilho Doehki has been earmarked for months as the replacement, and with returning Filip Helander and potentially Niko Katic, Rangers fans would be very happy with those three plus the impressive Leon Balogun in there too.

Can’t help now feeling Goldson’s Scottish adventure is coming to an end.

  1. Posted on a few Rangers pages about Goldson. He is way operated and thinks he is Billy big baws. He will do well at the likes of Doncaster or Rotherham but don’t know if he will get his K42. Lol. Let him go Hellander Katic at the back will do for me.

  2. its up to him and no matter how poor he was gerrard always played him he will go down south to a championship side and warm the bench he thinks he is a better player than he is
and good on rangers for not upping his wages
he will regret it in a few months

    • Get him out now …do not give him a choice ….he has disrespected club and team mates….who writes this stuff…..a centre half and sweeper are needed….Katic not the answer,Helander good but makes too many mistakes at vital moments,Balogun good but always suspect to injury and the game has taken its toll on him !

  3. He has become useless now in a few games, we have better players, to take over from him goodbye goldson. 😁
