Niko Katic’s time at Ibrox could be up if Rangers secure the double defensive signing in January information suggests they will.

As we all know, Rangers are moving hard for Vitesse’s Danilho Doekhi, but Anderlecht’s Wesley Hoedt is also on the radar too, albeit he would cost a few quid to bring in compared with pre-contract Doekhi.

All of which means Katic’s hoped-for return may not happen after all, with Connor Goldson, Leon Balogun and Filip Helander on Rangers’ roster, not to mention the rising CB star that is Calvin Bassey.

As we alluded to in recent content, Rangers, in around a month, could be very strong defence-wise, with a lot of resources both on the horizon and returning from injury.

As such, we do not know if fan-favourite Katic is in GVB’s plans at all, and we know there’s an option to buy for £3M next month which Hadjuk do actually have first choice on.

So the return may not even be in our hands after all!

But with potentially Helander, Balogun, Doekhi, Bassey and Hoedt, the options at the back wouldn’t be too bad you’d have to say.

Not too bad at all.

  1. Aye it’s possible but you’re forgetting Balognun is out of contract at the end of the season. Going by Rangers model I think they’d keep Niko and put him in the shop window next session. Balognun has gotten pelters for other players underperforming this season but I feel he’s served the Club well. Sadly I don’t think he will get a new contract but maybe wrong…
