Regulars to Ibrox Noise will be aware we told you Connor Goldson rejected a deal last spring, so we had to giggle a little seeing Clickbait Insider produce it as an ‘exclusive’ last night.

However, yes, as you will be clearly know from Ibrox Noise over the past 9+ months, Goldson has indeed rejected a deal – long ago, in fact, and wants to return to England.

Truth be told, he’s been leaving for a long time, having decided 4 years was more than enough in Scotland some considerable period, and we don’t exactly mind that.

Yes, his HT comments v Hibs weren’t great, but he clearly decided to sign for 4 years and then leave at the end of them. And that’s fair enough.

He will leave earlier than that, with a January departure looking rather certain now with Rangers hoping to get a few quid for him ala Scott Wright and Jack Simpson who both cost around £300,000 last winter window instead of arriving free in the summer.

But the straw that broke the camel’s back for Goldson was SG quitting. That made his mind up completely.

Whether he gets a move to Villa remains to be seen, but PL sides will certainly seek his services for sure.

Last season got him a tonne of attention, and fans thinking his sub-standard performances this season will put off suitors need only look at how Glen Kamara’s poor displays at Dundee for his final stretch put Rangers off.

IE, they didn’t.

Courting teams look at the player’s bigger picture, not what they’re performing like when their heart is no longer in it.

And those thinking PL sides won’t be interested should think again.

Either way, he’ll be leaving soon enough.

  1. Whilst I agree Goldson will be on his way South in January, the thought of any English Premier League club being interested raised a smile.
His natural home would be in the Championship, and I wish the guy awra best on getting a club there.I’d be more upset if we lost Kent.
