Europa draw – who we want for Rangers

Rangers today go into the hat for the playoff round of the UEL, and could face such Euro colossi such as Dortmund, Sevilla, Barca and Zenit.

It’s an incredible batch of sides having dropped down from the UCL, and it’s just yet another immense test for the manager who is yet to lose a match as boss, having dispatched Prague and held Lyon among his achievements.

So who do we want today?

The truth is, as we said at the start of the season, Europe doesn’t really matter for Rangers this season, at least, the UEL doesn’t.

We’ve proven ourselves in this tournament and been consistent last 16 entrants two seasons running – ergo, SPL is what counts, because winning it gets us into the group stage of the Promised Land next season.

But that’s down the road. This season it’s a glamour tie in the next round up for grabs, and frankly we want as ‘sexy’ a draw as we can get.

Dortmund, Sevilla or Barca would be absolutely fine thanks, and Leipzig wouldn’t be bad either.

In short, get the big dramatic tie going, get the attention and glamour such a draw would bring, and see how we get on.

In the bigger picture it’s not critical, but in the short term it would be a nice test for the side.

But never forget the SPL is, this season, absolutely number 1.
